Upon Victor Yushchenko’s winning the presidential election, his wife Kateryna will proceed with charitable activity, promote the development of Ukrainian museums, theatres and researches into the Genocide Famine subject.
“Of course, jointly with the world charitable organization “Friends of the children” I will support those children who need our help,” she has said in an interview with the “Evening news” paper. According to Victor Yushchenko’s wife, she is engaged in charity since 1995. “Friends of the children” help kids with medicines and clothes, improve their health in the Carpathians and assist them in getting higher education.
“I believe that one of the most important directions in the activity of the President’s wife is to be the development of Ukrainian culture, namely museums and theatres,” has told Kateryna Yushchenko. She has assured she will take great pains to make the Ukrainian people remember the history of the Genocide Famine of 1932-1933, as many relatives of Kateryna Mykhaylivna fell the victims of this tragedy. “Nowadays we are carrying out a program connected with the researches into this subject. We would like to embrace as many witnesses of Famine as possible,” she has reported.
Apart from the public activity, Kateryna Yushchenko will have to spend lots of time with her three little children, as the youngest one, Taras, is only nine months old.
